It's generally pretty easy to hate on the headmaster in this fic, til you see something like the man falling asleep with his beard in his food. At moments like that, it's all too apparent that I was sorted into Hufflepuff. I just can't maintain any anger at him for long whenever I'm reminded of his age, or his hand, or that he's generally doing what he thinks is right. That his "right" and mine don't fully align doesn't change that he's so very human. I love that you were able to hit a balance (how Slytherin of you, Ginger!) between douchecanoe and elderly leader of the light.
[edit to clarify] The headmaster is believably douchey in his manipulations of everyone as if they were chess pieces, and his blatant favoritism towards certain parties. It's also heartbreakingly within the realm of canon that Dumbledore keeps his hands "cleaner" by sending Snape back to Voldemort again and again without truly confronting what the younger man goes through. Even so, I just can't fully hate him. To me, it's incredible that you're able to strike that balance *just so.* Dumbledore, for all of his lack of fairness or empathy, is good enough and pitiable enough that I still like him...a little, albeit reluctantly, lol.
