The current payoff for all of the foreshadowing was superb. The Board of Governors and the Healer who hurt them with well-intentioned ignorance + all of the times Hermione showed her loyalty in a way that Snape would have hated...and then he suggests a road test. 😫 Of *course* he got her to poison him. The man's life isn't maudlin enough. Let's add a terribly imprecise reenactment of Romeo and Juliet to rectify that, shall we? 😉
Seriously, though, it was something that needed to be done. I'm glad they got the test out of the way in the safety of their home, before Voldy and crew or Hermione's classmates made the situation worse.
I'm relieved he recognized her regret and calmed down, rather than hurling imprecations or blame. That could have gone much worse.
