Oh no, it works best when they seem to be unaware that they are working on building a relationship, it's the slight shifting in their minds as they slowly meld into the quartet. It's the subtle changes leading them without them noticing until after the fact, then they simply let it go. They are not consciously "thinking" anything about becoming a family. That's what makes the little self discoveries so fun. :-)
