I figured you couldn't have the creatures locked in a closest all of term, so they *must* have facilities for them, and if as a student and member of staff you stare at them long enough, then it becomes your concept of normal. So not that this Snape is super fluffy when drunk (although a smidge), but that spaces like that are just part of what should have been canon to begin with. IIRC, JKR has asthma or some owt, and doesn't quite get pets. 😕 Occasionally, it shows.
I was quite proud of the 'Caterwalling Charm' (and you can't imagine what a battle it was to get autocorrect to leave it alone... lol I think I finally had to make up an exclusionary rule for it.).
To me, that sort of described the young ladies' personalities and priorities in a nutshell.
