Totally agree, on both counts. The way you're writing Daphne as a Slytherin, blended with Hermione, pretty much sounds like me in school. I was self-driven to do well (military brat, Constantly felt I had to give it my all), friendly while a bit "head in the clouds" (but the clouds were Really Pretty!), but utterly in love with books. (Ever heard of the Books Before Boys club?) Do you think Severus had a club? Potions Preceding Prats?
